Take a Look at Some of the Terrariums at Diane's Art, Gift and Home for Your Valentine

I delivered some really lovely terries to Diane this week, special for the big flower power holiday.   She’s having an after work shindig on Feb 11, this Thursday night, with wine and chocolate and roses, so ya’ll come see us, you hear?

Go by and see her at 1581 Overton Park Street, she has a store full of lovely gifts of all kinds.  You might want to step next door and have a little bite to eat next door at Ecco, too.

This begonia has to be in humid environment, unlike most begonias.  With red and green sworls of hairy leaves glistening with dew, he makes a perfect Valentine

Green Mansions sit quietly on tables, counters,or  desks for years with very little maintenance required.  Zen gardens under glass.

Closeup of begonia, look closely to see the red hairs on the green leaves

A corner of woodland, quietly abiding, transport to mountain memories

Secret candy bowl garden, see the Redbird hidden in the moss.  Are you sweet on a baseball fan?

Wild profusion of selaginella, a sweet little possum peering out

Build Your Own Terry Interesting Tidbits philadelphia flower show

2015 Was a Lot of Fun, Bring It On 2016!

I went to Longwood Gardens in March when I went to the Philadelphia Flower Show.  Gorgeous snowy Bucks County, home of Andrew Wyeth and family

This conservatory was a welcome retreat from the snow.  My glasses almost end frosted when the humid air hit the frozen lenses!

This is one of many spectacular zoned connected greenhouses covering four acres. They have wonderful small concerts in a music room off this one.  I saw the lovely Anat Coen and really liked her drummer, Jonathan Friedman

I met a lot of great and interesting people, like Daniel and Gabriel. Their father, David, brought them to build terries for Christmas.

I think they had fun; I know I did.

Debbie came to get a little friend for her sister, and brought the incomparable Olive with her.

Going to spend the weekend planting for my show in February.

So this little guy is definitely ready for a new home.  He is from some exotic plant cuttings I got from my new rocking friend Todd.

Fill your hearts with love today. It may not be all you need but it sure helps.

Interesting Tidbits Mosses Terrarium Plants

Moss Under Glass

This moss garden has been growing about a year and is really happy.  The baby fern appeared last month.  It will probably not grow much larger due to the limited resources, but is making a valiant stand.  Moss will grow well under glass if you can get past the initial transplant shock.

Kahuna's Dream

So last year I bought this odd little figurine of what appeared to be a native Hawaiian man carrying a surfboard; through the magic of the Internet I learned it was made in the 60’s by Coco Joe, a Hawaiian artist, from lava.  I have been planning and collecting elements to make a terrarium to showcase him ever since.

Come see Kahuna’s Dream at the Garden Path Studio Open House on Dec 13, at 597 Madison at Marshall from 1 to 6.  He is in a 16 inch bubble bowl, and would be stunning as a centerpiece on someone’s dinner table this Christmas.

Kahuna is now 4 months old and is really hitting a peak in design.  He needs to live with someone who will enjoy trimming some of his more boisterous plants a few times a year, but otherwise requires very little maintenance.  For only $350,  you can take home this unique, fascinating, dreamy seascape who will bring you many years of pleasure.

Check the posting on the Open House above, or send a message with any questions.  Hope to see you there for some plant chats.
